The documentary chronicling Oasis’ blockbuster 2025 reunion tour received its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival ahead of its Australian and New Zealand theatrical release on Sept. 10.
Liam and Noel Gallagher have walked the red carpet together at the Venice International Film Festival for the world premiere of Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, the new documentary chronicling the band’s historic reunion and Oasis Live ’25 world tour.
The brothers were joined in Venice by the film’s creator and writer Steven Knight and directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace for the premiere at the Palazzo del Cinema on the Venice Lido.
Screening in the festival’s Sala Grande, the documentary played to more than 1,000 guests, with the premiere coming just days before the film opens in IMAX and cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on Sept. 10.
The film will subsequently stream exclusively on Disney+ later this year.
Created by BAFTA and Oscar-nominated Peaky Blinders writer Knight, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger follows the reunion that brought Noel and Liam Gallagher back together for Oasis Live ’25, ending one of rock music’s most famous estrangements.
Southern and Lovelace, whose previous music documentaries include LCD Soundsystem film Shut Up and Play the Hitsand New York rock documentary Meet Me in the Bathroom, were given extensive access to the band throughout the tour.
The film combines rehearsal, backstage and onstage footage with material documenting the reaction of fans around the world. Significantly, it also features the first joint interviews with Liam and Noel in more than 20 years.
The reunion tour became one of 2025’s biggest music events after years of speculation about whether the famously combative brothers would ever share a stage again. The documentary looks beyond the concerts themselves to examine the emotional response to the reunion and the continuing connection between Oasis’ music and successive generations of listeners.
The Venice appearance brings the Gallaghers’ reconciliation into another highly public setting, with the brothers appearing alongside the filmmakers to launch the documentary internationally.
The film also brings together a considerable behind-the-scenes team. It is produced by Sam Bridger, whose credits include Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now and Meet Me in the Bathroom, and Guy Heeley, whose credits include Locke and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.
Cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos, whose work includes Belfast and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, leads the film’s cinematography, while the sound team includes Oscar winners James Mather (Top Gun: Maverick) and Tarn Willers (The Zone of Interest). George Cragg and Martina Zamolo serve as editors.
The documentary is a Magna Studios production presented by Sony Music Vision in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK, with Disney+ presenting the Hulu Original film’s theatrical engagement in Australia and New Zealand.
For Oasis, the film provides a screen record of a reunion that for years appeared highly unlikely. Noel Gallagher left the band in 2009 following the breakdown of his relationship with Liam, bringing Oasis’ original run to an abrupt end.
Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger captures what happened when that long-running feud finally gave way to a return to the stage — not simply from the perspective of the Gallaghers, but through the fans who turned the reunion into one of the defining rock events of 2025.
Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger opens in IMAX and cinemas across Australia and New Zealand on Sept. 10 and will stream on Disney+ later in 2026.
