Sam Barber Plots Biggest Australian Tour Yet, Bringing Josiah and the Bonnevilles Along for the Ride
The fast-rising country star will return to Australia in March and April 2027 for seven dates, including arena-sized shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, as his global streaming numbers soar past 3.4 billion.
Sam Barber is gearing up for another Australian takeover. The multi-platinum country singer-songwriter has announced his biggest run of Australian headline shows to date, with a seven-date tour scheduled for March and April 2027 and fellow Americana storyteller Josiah and the Bonnevilles joining him as special guest.
Presented by Frontier Touring, the tour will kick off in Perth on March 31 before travelling through Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, with a final stop in Townsville for Country Fest Queensland on April 17. The run marks Barber’s fourth visit to Australia and his first headline tour here since 2025, when overwhelming demand led to additional dates and venue upgrades.
The return comes as Barber continues his remarkable ascent from independent-minded songwriter to one of country music’s most talked-about new voices. With more than 3.4 billion global streams, sold-out shows across multiple continents and a growing catalogue of emotionally charged songs, the Missouri-born artist has become a major presence in the genre’s next generation.
For Australian fans, the 2027 dates offer a chance to catch Barber in some of the country’s biggest rooms yet — and to hear the songs that have helped propel him from streaming success to an increasingly formidable live performer.
From viral country songwriter to global touring force
Barber’s appeal lies in the tension between scale and intimacy. His songs often feel like private confessions, built around weathered vocals, acoustic textures and lyrics that sit with the messier realities of love, loss and growing up. Yet those same songs have found an enormous audience, travelling well beyond country music’s traditional boundaries.
His 2024 debut album, Restless Mind, established the foundations. The record earned RIAA Gold certification and featured “Straight and Narrow,” now certified double Platinum, alongside “Indigo,” his collaboration with Avery Anna, which achieved Platinum certification and has accumulated more than 728 million global streams. “Indigo” also reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Barber followed that breakthrough with Broken View, a sophomore album that expands his introspective approach. Co-written and co-produced by Barber himself, the record explores the complicated terrain of self-discovery, heartbreak and the choices that shape a life.
Rather than abandoning the vulnerability that first connected him with listeners, Barber has continued to build on it. His music draws from country, folk and Americana traditions while speaking to an audience increasingly comfortable moving between genres — and discovering artists through streaming before seeing them onstage.
That crossover momentum has translated into an increasingly international touring schedule. Barber has played sold-out headline shows and festival appearances across North America, the United Kingdom, Europe and Australia, while sharing stages with artists including Bruce Springsteen and Ed Sheeran.
His television appearances have included NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Showand CBS Saturday Morning‘s Saturday Sessions. His song “Tear Us Apart” also featured on the soundtrack to the 2024 film Twisters.
It’s a trajectory that has placed Barber in the conversation about country music’s future, at a moment when younger artists are pushing the genre into new territory without losing its emphasis on storytelling.
Josiah and the Bonnevilles bring the singalongs
Joining Barber across the Australian headline dates is Josiah and the Bonnevilles, the musical project led by singer-songwriter Josiah Leming.
The pairing brings together two artists whose songs thrive on emotional directness, even as their approaches to performance offer different shades of intensity. Where Barber’s music often finds its power in raw, understated confession, Josiah and the Bonnevilles can move from stripped-back vulnerability to the kind of full-room singalong that turns a concert into a collective experience.
Leming arrives in Australia following a breakout period of international touring and the release of As Is, described as his most ambitious album to date. The record captures both sides of his artistic identity: the intimate songwriter laying bare personal experiences and the commanding frontman capable of turning those experiences into something shared with an audience.
After building a following through years of touring and independent momentum, Leming has increasingly found himself playing to crowds who know every word. His return follows a headline tour of Australia and New Zealand last year, with the Barber dates providing another opportunity to bring his music to local audiences.
Together, the artists make for a bill centred on the connective power of modern country and Americana — songs that feel personal on first listen but are built to be sung back in a room full of strangers.
